Electrical Modularity – The mechanical modularity just described is complemented by electrical modularity. The Module is connected to the Line Supervisor (Manufacturing Execution System – MES) through a single Ethernet patch. For the rest of the connections (electromotive force, compressed air, etc.), each Module is completely independent with electrical and pneumatic connections prepared on the roof. These features, combined with mechanical standards, allow for an extremely rapid installation (about 10 hours for an entire line).
Flexibility and Design – The external paneling of the module is painted RAL 7035 and at the top features a customizable color band upon the customer’s request. The Module is completely openable using a single standard key that allows for the removal of all panels. The module rests on adjustable leveling feet. Alternatively, FootMaster swivel casters with pads can be mounted. Below the base plate, there is a compartment in which all the devices necessary for the process operation are housed (e.g., panels, control units, material servo systems, robot control, etc.). A blind panel in painted sheet metal allows covering the contents of the compartment while preserving easy access. The base plate hosts the automations for the station operations. The systems are protected by upper front and side Lexan doors with a radiated aluminum frame. All Modules are covered by an internal false ceiling with light fixtures and a top closure panel. The front and rear doors, which facilitate possible operator access inside the station, open laterally and have a locking managed by the process logic. The lateral doors, crossed by the line, are tilting and removable, and during the normal operation of the line, are mechanically locked.
The design of the Restart Module is distinguished by its smooth and clean lines, the result of a long study and cross-pollination with the world of Machining Design. The rounded ends ensure the ergonomics of the Module which fits into an environment populated by operators. The lean manufacturing philosophy that guided the design led us to align the Modules of each line on the x and y axes, thus maximizing their symmetry and minimizing space and material wastage.
Human-Machine Interface – The operator interacts and collaborates with the line through the Human Machine Interface. Each module is equipped with a highly sensitive 23-inch touchscreen panel that gathers all the functionalities related to that station. The HMI, entirely developed by Restart, is enhanced with intuitive icons for the operator and easily customizable multilingual texts. To improve the operator’s experience collaborating with the line, Restart has included some options like: a sensor for automatic adjustment of light intensity in the module, the setup of a Comfort Zone for the operator (targeted conditioning, smartphone support with charging area, etc.), the ability to manage process data just in time through an Android app, and the pick to light system for guided component loading.
The Restart Module is completely customizable to effectively meet the diverse needs of the customer, without having to give up a product that is the result of years of study and optimization.
